The Weekender Deluxe – Small Van, Full Setup
The Weekender was already a complete overnight kit for small vans. The Deluxe takes it one step further, adding a rear-door outdoor kitchen and an overhead shelf to create a setup that handles multi-day trips as comfortably as it handles weekend escapes.
Same vans. Same lightweight build philosophy. Just more to work with. Designed specifically for the Volkswagen Caddy, this kit is lightweight, modular, and precision-fitted to your Caddy's interior.
The foundation is unchanged: the B4 V2 Compact Sliding Bed and A1 V2 Slimline Side Unit, the same combination that's helped hundreds of Berlingo, Kangoo, Dokker, Caddy and Adaptable van owners build their first micro camper. At 33 cm tall, the B4 V2 sits 4.5 cm lower than its predecessor for better headroom, fits a 160 × 112 cm mattress, and stores almost 200 L underneath – including a Boxio corner, a 15 L electric cooler compartment, and a discreet 30 L side compartment. The A1 V2, at just 28 cm deep, keeps interior width free while adding another 160 L of storage and a proper work surface.
What the Deluxe adds is a kitchen.
The D8 Outdoor Kitchen Drawer lives under the bed and extends from the rear doors. Closed, it's invisible – just part of the bed. Open, it telescopes out to 110 cm of workspace on double runners, with room for a camping stove, a chopping board, your camp kitchen kit, and enough flat surface to actually cook rather than just heat things up. It's the difference between eating at a petrol station and eating well.
Above the side unit sits the D0 Overhead Shelf – a compact 43 × 23 cm unit that mounts to the van wall and puts 15 L of frequently-needed items within reach without digging through under-bed storage. Maps, sunscreen, snacks, a head torch. The things you grab ten times a day.
The drawer installs easily without modifying the bed, and the whole kit still assembles in around a day with a screwdriver and wood glue.
Like all Simple Vans furniture, everything is built from lightweight poplar plywood and supplied in raw wood, ready for your finish of choice.
Designed and tested for the Volkswagen Caddy 3 (2004–2015) and Caddy 4 (2015–2020). Both generations share the same L1 short-wheelbase body. A small trim cut is required on the B4 bed so it follows the Caddy’s internal contours correctly.
The Weekender was always designed to be upgraded. This is what that looks like.
Want to start with the Weekender and add the D8 and D0 later? Both accessories are available separately.
