About Simple Vans
Our History
Ben, our founder, started out in camper van rentals. The initial business model involved purchasing basic panel vans, converting them into campervans, and renting them to tourists. But as time went on, Ben became increasingly unhappy. Not only was he not particularly interested in managing a fleet of vehicles, he was getting increasingly frustrated with the plywood kits they used to furnish the vans. Making small improvements was one thing – structural reinforcements, nifty extra doors for utility, and enhanced hardware – but at a certain point he realised that to get all his design ideas realised, he’d need to start from scratch.
So, Ben quit. He invested his life savings into kitting out a workshop and building his own CNC machine. Next, Ben started supplying his old partners with furniture kits that were better in just about every way. Simple Vans was born.
