PURCHASE GUIDE

CHOOSE YOUR FURNITURE WELL

Simple Vans furniture has been designed for very specific layouts, detailed in this guide. We recommend reading it carefully before placing your order.

If your van does not match these criteria but you would still like to use our products, this is possible thanks to our UNIVERSAL range.

⚠️ Please note: this range requires a prior check of your dimensions.

The term “universal” does not mean that all vehicles are compatible, but rather that the modules can be adapted, provided you have enough usable floor space and meet all the technical prerequisites listed below.

With this range, you will first need to do a trial assembly, then make the necessary cut-outs so that the furniture fits perfectly with the interior shapes of your van.

✅ Compatible vehicles

Our kits are designed for standard panel vans

🚫 Incompatible vehicles

Crew cabs and vans with rear seats

For vans equipped with rear benches and/or plastic trims (side panels or flooring), we cannot guarantee perfect compatibility with our furniture. In most cases, the plastic trims will need to be removed, and you must ensure that any floor rails do not interfere with the furniture supports.

Beds and front kitchen units (C5/C6) are generally problem-free. However, the rear right-hand side unit often requires complex cut-outs to fit properly, which may weaken the structure. For this reason, we do not recommend this configuration.

Technical specifications & installation notes

1. Walls & cladding

Our furniture is designed to fit original-style plywood linings of 5 mm thickness.

If you plan to use timber cladding or other wall structures, you will need to choose from the Universal range.

2. Flooring

Our furniture has been designed for a floor (including covering) with a total thickness of 15 mm, without insulation underneath.
That said, a floor thickness between 9 mm and 18 mm is fine.

A wooden floor is mandatory for securely fastening the furniture.

⚠️ If you raise your floor to add insulation, you will need to choose Universal furniture.

3. Ceiling

The ceiling can affect your layout, especially if you plan to install our D4, D5 or D1 Universal units (except D1 T5).

Whether you use 5 mm plywood lining or timber cladding, make sure the remaining interior height (floor to ceiling) is sufficient to fit your chosen combination.

4. Bulkhead partitions

Partitions are not standardized, which may lead to incompatibility with our kits. If you want to keep your partition, you must carefully check your dimensions, as the partition may prevent correct installation.

The most important factor is the actual usable floor area, which must match the overall size of the furniture you plan to install.

⚠️ In small vans (e.g. Berlingo, Dokker, Kangoo…), the central seat belt is sometimes attached to the partition. This would block the middle seat and mean reinstalling the partition to pass vehicle inspection.

5. Bed extensions & mattress choice

All our beds come with 7 cm extensions, but they cannot always be used.

This depends on several factors: the kit or furniture combination, available floor space, presence of a partition, etc.

In some setups, you will only be able to use the bed in its original length:

→ 160 cm for the B4 bed

→ 180 cm for the B120 and B130 beds

We recommend measuring your usable floor space precisely before installation to see if the extensions can be added.

6. Bed cut-outs

All our beds are universal and designed to fit as many vans as possible.

Depending on your van layout, you may need to make adjustments:

7. Wood & quality standards

All our furniture is made from poplar plywood, delivered raw, untreated, and unvarnished.
This allows you to personalize the finish yourself, applying at least a protective oil.
(We use Rubio Monocoat, “Hint of White” shade, for our display models.)

You can also choose varnish, sealant, paint, or any other finish to match your style.

We accept knots on visible surfaces provided they are:
- Less than 2 cm in diameter
- Limited to one knot per piece

On non-visible faces, all knots are allowed.

The wood may feature a speckled appearance (“pin knots”), a natural characteristic of poplar.

Kitchen units are universal, meaning they are not custom-cut to fit the wall of your van as the slight gap created is hidden once the mattress is in place.

Sliding bed rendering

The sliding bed has been designed to fit in the largest number of vans. As this furniture is universal, you may need to make some cuts so that it adapts to the configuration of your van. Indeed, certain combinations of furniture and/or the presence of a partition may affect the available length for your comb bed.

Always remember to check your measurements at a height of 40 cm from the floor.

All side unit is custom-made for your van model. If it is not intended for your van, you will need to take the universal version and make any necessary cuts.

All side unit has been custom-made for your van model only if it is fitted with original 5mm thick wooden panels.

If you have installed another type of paneling (e.g. paneling) or if it is not intended for your van, you will need to take the universal version and make any necessary cuts.
