Which Simple Van Are You?

Posted on2025-06-26 by

Not sure if you're a small van minimalist, a midsize multitasker, or a full-blown vanlife maximalist?

Don’t worry–this quiz will sort you into your rightful tribe: Tiny, Classic, or Plus. For those of you who haven’t even decided IF you want a van, it all starts with how you feel about vans themselves...

Question 1: When you picture yourself in a micro camper like a Kangoo, what do you see?
a) Alone. At peace. Eating snacks and living my truth.
b) Enjoying a weekend escape, but also kind of looking forward to getting home.
c) Googling "claustrophobia symptoms" and screaming internally.

Question 2: Visualise yourself reversing into a car parking spot… in a medium sized van. How are you feeling?
a) I’m already sweating. I once cried parallel parking a Mini.
b) Has it got one of those nifty parking cameras? If yes – I’m down.
c) I once drove a bus through central Milan during a festival weekend. Nothing phases me anymore.

Question 3: Let’s talk about cabin space. Which of these three appeals most?
a) Lying in a cosy cocoon, solo, listening to rain on the roof while everything I need is within arm’s reach.
b) Sitting cross-legged, wrapped in a blanket, doors open to a view. Toast in one hand, mug in the other.
c) Swinging a cat while my partner does star jumps at the other end of the van. There’s literally that much space.

Question 4: Who’s coming with you?

a) Just me and Jack, my faithful, predictably named Jack Russell terrier.
b) Me + 1 other human I like enough to trade farts and share sunsets with.
c) Me, my partner, our kids, a surfboard, and the occasional kitchen sink.

Question 5: Your thoughts on van furniture?

a) Weekdays my van is used for work, so lightweight and removable is key.
b) Ever see Transformers? Everything needs to fold up, slide out, pack down and basically utilise every cubic centimetre of cabin space.
c) Well-designed furniture is how you make a van feel like an apartment.

Question 6: What’s your #vanlife vibe?

a) Minimal. I pack light and spend every spare second outdoorsing.
b) Definitely a part-timer. Weekends and holidays only. Just good vibes and good views.
c) I treat my van like a second home. Or sometimes my only one.

Question 7: Last one. How much headroom do you need?

a) My spine is flexible and my headroom needs are few.

b) If I can’t get under a carpark barrier, what’s even the point? I’ll take a stiff neck and beach access, please.

c) You can’t put a price on good posture. I want to stand tall and give vanlife a high five.
